~ Glistening Cat Genetics??

                                                  Glistening Cats Genetics?? 

       What genes or combination of genes or combination of modifiers make Glistening Cats?    No one has studied even the Satin genes in cats enough to know.  

        I have my own theories having seen and lived eight years with Shimming and Glistening Cats.   In our Cat Colony I believe it to be a "cumulative"  increasing over time... I also think that like in rabbit genes PLUS and MINUS gene modifiers PLAY a HUGE roll...  plus modifiers increase the amount of "glisten" to the hair/fur.   Yes, I think this can happen over time but I think also, perhaps some kittens or cat lines are just born with MORE Glistening hair/fur.  Perhaps this is a new mutation or new modifier variants, or super modifiers?   

        I'm going to add some word definitions herein (for my sake) and for people new to cats / genetics, etc.

       ~~>> cumulative ~~ an effect produced by something happening over a long period of time.  Such as the cumulative effect(s) of smoking on the body.

• Mica (Gold-Tipped): This glitter affects the tips of the hairs only and produces its effect in reflective hair-tips. If you look at this under a microscope, you'll see that embedded right inside the very tip of each Bengal hair are what you would swear are tiny flecks of a reflective silicate crystal called mica.
• Satin (Hollow-Air): It looks just like mica, but in this case it affects the whole hair shaft, refracting light and giving the coat a pearly effect which is also known as "oyster." Satin hair shafts contain many little pockets of air along their length which not only refract light all the way through but also give the coat a smooth, soft silkiness unlike any other cat fur you've ever touched. These air pockets can become elongated which makes the fur even softer and silkier.

   ~~ >> I recently discovered there are long haired Bengals as the recessive gene for long hair runs in several lines.  So, I'm wondering since they have longer softer silkier coats, and shine, does their hair / coats display "satin" sheen??
